Projects
First Quarter Project--Picture Yourself--Due October 5
Welcome to the first project of the year! This project is meant to be a creative way to express who you are. There are three parts to this project, some of which you will be able to do in school, others will have to be done at home.
Part One: Profile Picture
Your teacher will take a digital picture of your profile (side view). This picture will be printed out in black and white. You will then be asked to carefully cut the top of the head off of the picture. You will glue the two pieces of your profile on the poster board (which will be provided to you by your teacher). The exact details on how to do this will be explained in class.
Part Two: Images
Once your profile has been pasted to the poster board, you are going to draw or find images that represent who you are. You will be required to have a minimum of twelve images on your poster. These images will be defined in four categories: family, school, hobbies, and favorites. The categories will NOT be pasted or written anywhere on your poster. You will need to create or find at least three images for each category. You are more than welcome to have more than three images per category, but you must have at least three. All images must be in color. If you choose to draw them on the poster, make sure they are creative and neat. Images that you find in magazines or photographs should be neatly cut or trimmed. You may choose to draw all your images, or have a mix of drawn and found images. You may not, however, have all found images. All images should be artistically arranged on the poster...emerging from your mind.
Part Three: Descriptions
The last part of this project requires you to describe why these images represent a part of who you are. You will be asked to select two images from each category to write a paragraph about (eight paragraphs total). Each description should include what the image is
and an explanation as to why you chose to include this image in your project. Each paragraph needs to be about 6-8 sentences long. Paragraphs will need to be typed and checked for grammatical and spelling errors.
Grading:
You will be graded on your twelve images (colorful and creative), the eight paragraphs (correctly written), and the overall presentation. This project should be fun to do because it is all about YOU! Have fun with it.
